Watch out Apple! Xiaomi reveals plans to open 1,000 retail stores by 2020.
Xiaomi’s Mi smartphones are giving a good competition to the Tech giants Samsung and Apple. It is also called Chinese iPhone because their smartphone resembles the iPhone or they try to copy the Apple. Not only the smartphone they have copied laptops also. There is very famous saying in China “If you can’t compete them, copy them”. That’s exactly what they did, they copied Apple and they are on the way to compete them.
Even in just five years ago, it was very different from the way they look now. The growth of the Xiaomi is pretty impressive from a small tech startup to Chinese Apple. Now, according to Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, China’s largest privately funded startup has ambitious plans to dramatically expand its offline presence: from 25 Xiaomi stores right now to 1,000 stores by 2020.
It’s been only 6 years, it was not well-known brand and now they have planned to open 1000 stores within 2020. The physical location is still unknown. Right now, they have only 25 retail stores in China.
Like Xiaomi, other many Chinese smartphones manufacturer operates their operation through online channels, but according to Xiaomi’s CEO,
“We want consumers to touch and test our products with the core technologies in the stores. We have adapted our strategies… Xiaomi will open 1,000 stores by 2020.”
They certainly would benefit from it increasing brand recognition providing more experience stores. This step is crucial for them, if it could make 1000 stores by 2020, this would be the greatest achievement for them.
