Every Xiaomi device with the company’s own MIUI come with tons of bloat-ware, but with the exception of one device, Mi A1. The Mi A1 was the result of the partnership between Google and Xiaomi. The partnership is going to be continued with the upcoming successor, Xiaomi Mi A2.
The Mi A2 will follow same the formula as its predecessor with the similar solid spec sheet, a bloat-free Android experience, and an affordable price tag. And with the teasers on the social media sites, the device is confirmed to be launched on the 24th of July. Here is what can you expect from the upcoming Mi A2.
The key and the most important feature of the Mi A2 will be its bloat-free clean Android experience with the Android 8.1 Oreo. As the partnership between Xiaomi and the Google, the device will be part of Android One family. And as Google’s promise for the Android One device, this will be among the to receive future updates for next three years.
The Mi A1 was a rebranded version of the Mi 5X with clean an Android OS. So, we are expecting the same this year, meaning the Mi A2 could be a rebranded variant of the already announced Mi 6X. If Mi A2 will be the rebranded Mi 6X, then the phone could sport a 6-inch Full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, and packs a Snapdragon 660 chipset under the hood. The device is expected to be available in four configurations, featuring 4GB of RAM and 32/64/128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM with 128GB of storage.
Xiaomi Mi A2 is expected to cost roughly the same as the Mi 6X, with pricing starting at around $250.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 may also feature dual cameras on the back with 20MP and 12MP sensors for those in trend bokeh shots. The setup should support AI-powered scene recognition to identify what’s in the frame and automatically adjust the settings to produce the best image possible. The selfie snapper up front should come in at 20MP.
Other specs include a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, an IR blaster, and big move no headphone jack. The battery could have a 3,010mAh capacity, making it slightly smaller than the one of the Mi A1 (3,080mAh). With the latest render, the device is expected to come in three colors: red, gold, and black.
And the Mi A2 is expected to cost roughly the same as the Mi 6X, with pricing starting at around $250. That means it could be a little more expensive than its predecessor. The Xiaomi Mi A1 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage retailed for $225 similarly priced to the Mi 5X. So, although pricing for the Xiaomi Mi A2 hasn’t been confirmed yet, we are expecting it will go for roughly the same as the Mi 6X.
Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite
Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite is expected to sport a 5.84-inch Full HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio and a notch on top. Under the hood will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. The phone will likely support expandable storage up to 256GB via a microSD card. The dual rear camera will support a 12MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor, while there will be a 5MP selfie shooter. The battery is expected to be a slightly larger 4,000mAh one.
