Vivo has been working on under display fingerprint scanner for quite some time. Back in June 2017, the company also showcased the under-display fingerprint scanner technology, at MWC 2017, however, that was just a demo. However, the new report suggests that the company could launch the new variants of high-end flagships Vivo X20 and X20 Plus, with under screen fingerprint scanner embedded on it.
The “UD” Abbreviations suggests that it could be under display fingerprint scanner or underwater defense, or just UpDate
Recently, a new Vivo smartphone named Vivo X20 Plus UD passed the 3C certification of China Quality Certification Center. Actually, the “UD” Abbreviations suggests that it could be under display fingerprint scanner or underwater defense, or just UpDate. Since the smartphone got the quality certificate, we can expect it soon in the market.
Moreover, the Vivo was also working with Synaptics in this type of technology, for some time. So, it also gives an idea that the Vivo will be the first smartphone OEM to get the under display fingerprint sensors. The new-gen Synaptics Clear ID FS9500 sensors are designed to be used with an OLED display, and the Vivo X20 smartphones feature AMOLED panels. That means the Vivo X20 Plus UD is very likely to get the under-display fingerprint scanner.
Since the China 3C doesn’t list the specifications and design, we cannot say if its either just an update of Vivo X20 Plus or it really has an under-display fingerprint scanner. However, the MWC 2018 is just a few weeks away, we have some expectation that the Vivo X20 Plus UD (Under Display) will be the showcase.
