After a long gap, Apple finally launched a new MacBook Pro yesterday. Alongside with new mac, a bunch of new features was added and new updates were made. As the rumors were floating around the internet for some time, some of them became true.
Leaving that aside, we here like to point out some major announcement that Apple has made in this MacBook event.
Apple TV app:
Apple announced a new app for the Apple TV called “TV”, a new App unified hub for content across all the various apps you have installed. With a single installation, it will be available on iPhone and iPad too. It lets you access the same content with the same authentication across all your devices.
And, the Siri also works very well with the Apple TV. You can directly navigate using Siri, for example, if you want to watch a Soccer, you just have to say the club’s name and it will take you to the live game.
All new LG 5K Display
Specifically for the new MacBook Pro, LG built a 5K display. Actually, there is no much information about the display. As the Apple executive Phil Schiller called it the “Ultimate docking Station” as it can simultaneously display from the laptop while charging it.
No more function keys
Before the launch, the rumors about this OLED touch screen floated around the internet for a long time, which was true. They call it the Touch Bar. The Touch Bar was the showstopper at the event. The touch bar replaces the function keys and responds to touch and gestures. The fun part of this Touch Bar is that it adapts the screen. That means if you play a music on the computer, the information of that music displays on the bar, alongside with volume controls and music up and down options.
The touch bar is integrated with the Apple’s video editing software Final Cut, alongside with Adobe Photoshop, DJ Pro, etc.
MacBook also gets the Touch ID
The Touch ID is also integrated nest to the Touch Bar, placed right into the power button. As before, Apple built such fingerprint scanner in the iPhones and iPads only. It uses the same faster second-gen Touch ID sensor from iPhone 6S / 7 with a sapphire cover.
MacBook Air is dead
As the Apple has a tradition of dumping its products quickly. Continuing with the tradition, with the launch of new MacBook Pro, Apple also discontinued the MacBook Air. As the New MacBook Pro 13-inch non-Touch Bar cost $1300 and the cost of MacBook Air 13-inch – $1199 maximum. From this figure, we can assume that the customer will buy new MacBook Pro rather than Air. So, MacBook Air fans can take comfort in the fact that the 13-inch Pro is actually thinner and smaller than the older MacBook Air.
However, it has been launched just yesterday, we don’t know how long we have to wait to get hands on new MacBook Pro in Nepal! The estimated cost of non-touch bar 13-inch MacBook Pro will be around NRs. 150,000 and up to NRs. 250000 for highest configured Macbook Pro with Touch Bar. Talking about the 15-inch model, it will cost around NRs. 260000 to NRs. 33000 and all models are touch bar enabled. However, these prices are tentative and speculated, we have to wait until its officially launched here.
