Want to know which app is eating your data more? Simply, go to Settings> Mobile Data and see how much data you’ve used in the current billing period and below that you’ll see a list of your apps. Under each app’s name, you can see the data consumed. You toggle off any app that you think is eating more.
- Turn off Wi-Fi Assist.
This feature is very useful where your iPhone hands off a weak Wi-Fi signals. It prevents pages to load slow as it clings to the last remnants of a Wi-Fi signal. To turn off the feature, go to Settings>Mobile Data and scroll all the way down and turn off Wi-Fi Assist.
- Disable background app refresh
Some apps are constantly refreshing on the background without your knowledge. Turning off Background App Refresh option could save a huge mobile data. However, some apps need to be refreshed regularly, like viber, messenger, etc. So, you can choose individual app to use the mobile and turn off for others. - Download music, don’t stream
How many of you like to listen to music? Almost all of you, don’t you? However, its always a good idea to download the music instead of streaming it. As you stream the music, every time you replay it will download the new file, consuming more mobile data. For Apple Music, go to Settings>Music, there in Streaming & Downloads you can toggle the Cellular Data or toggle Streaming and High-Quality Streaming. For the Podcasts app, go to Settings > Podcasts and turn off Cellular Data.
- Fetch mail less frequently
You can set the timing or method of receiving the mail. The less frequently it fetches, the fewer data (and battery) you’ll use. Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Fetch New Data. First of all, make sure Push is turned off, next see the schedule for Fetch at the bottom, which you can choose manually.
- Use Safari’s Reading List
If you are on the web and you find something interesting, you can add that webpage to the reading list. The reading list downloads the page for offline viewing. Later on, when you are out of the reach to WI-FI you can read it easily.
