Well, the Korean tech giant, Samsung seems to be finalizing their old concept smartphone into the reality. The Samsung is planning to produce their first fordable phone in November 2018. According to the industry sources venting for Korean publication ET News, the Samsung foldable smartphone will feature a massive OLED display of 7.3 inches.
Actually, a while ago we saw a foldable smartphone from ZTE, the ZTE Axon M. However, the Axon M is just a two separate display panels joint by a hinge. But, the Samsung is going to launch the actual foldable smartphone.
For several years, we have been seeing a lot of renders, and concepts of such foldable screens and now, finally it seems to be coming commercially, replacing the mainstream products. Furthermore, the reports also claim, OLED display manufacturing starts from the March. And eventually, mass production begins in September, and product launch in November. At last, the sales will go in December 2018.
According to the report, the phone will have the inward folding mechanism, which opens like a book and when its unfolded the users can use it as a tablet.
There are high chances that the Samsung foldable smartphone will be the point of attraction at IFA 2018. Talking about the pricing, its likely to cost much higher than existing premium smartphones. So, we can say, it will be a “super premium” smartphone.
Although it came up to the mass production schedule, Samsung Electronics spoke. A company official said, “It is right to develop a folder-based smartphone,” but said, “However, details such as mass production and release schedule cannot be confirmed by business strategy.”
That means the Samsung foldable smartphone might not be available for everyone, though.
