After a bunch of leaks and rumors, one of the biggest flagships of the year is finally unveiled. The company unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, in an event, yesterday. Let’s talk about the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.
Despite all these, most of the tech blogger and tech enthusiast were present at the press event of the Samsung at Barcelona, one day ahead of Mobile World Congress 2018. The event sees the flagship of 2018 from Samsung and successor to the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. The new flagship retains major design and specification of its predecessor with some major feature improvements.
The Galaxy S9 has similar display size to Galaxy S8, with 5.8-inch on the S9 and 6.2-inch on the S9 Plus, but the bezel is shirked smaller than its predecessor. That makes the devices slightly smaller, with a major overhaul on the back, where fingerprint scanner is placed at the more convenient position. The Super AMOLED display in the Galaxy S9 is brighter than the Galaxy S8, with the brightness level of 700 nits. The Galaxy S9 has, company first stereo speaker tuned by AKG, which will improve sound quality over the previous devices. The device features Dolby ATMOS surround sound technology for the better audio experience.
On the internals of the Galaxy S9, the device used Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset, which makes the devices first handset using Qualcomm’s latest flagship SoC. Devices powered by Qualcomm’s SoC will be available only in the limited market including the US, major markets will have Galaxy S9 powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 chipset. On the RAM, Galaxy S9 has 4GB of RAM, whereas the Galaxy S9 Plus has 6GB of RAM. Both the devices come with 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded with a MicroSD card up to 256GB. To keep the device on, both the devices have retained the similar size of the battery to their predecessor, with the Galaxy S9 packing 3000mAh battery and S9 Plus packing 3500mAh battery.

The camera had always been the key feature of the Galaxy series. This time also the Galaxy S9 packs lot improvement on its camera. There’s a 12MP rear sensor with optical image stabilization, with new dual-aperture technology. With this new camera technology, the camera will automatically adjust the aperture according to the light situation. So if you’re shooting at daylight, it’ll automatically adjust to f/2.4 aperture, and if it’s darker than that the camera will opt for the f/1.5 aperture. With f/1.5 aperture, this is the widest aperture in any smartphone, and Samsung claims it should enable you to capture images with more color and detail and much less noise in low light conditions. And on the Galaxy S9 Plus, there is an additional 12MP telephoto lens with optical image stabilization and f/2.4 aperture.
The rear has lens has a feature to shoot slow-mo video at 960 frames per second, which is four times slower than the Galaxy S8. There is also a new mode called automatic motion detect, which will automatically begin to record when the camera detects movement, which makes it easier to only record the relevant moments in slow motion.
On the front of the phone, there’s an 8MP shooter with a f/1.7 aperture. This camera can not only take a selfie but also is privacy protection with facial recognition and has implemented iPhone X’s Aniemji like Augmented Reality based feature called AR emoji. The feature can recognize 18 different expressions and you can make your own character which represents you and give it different hair colors, dress senses, 12 different clothing options and choose from 7 pairs of glasses.
With the Galaxy S9, the company also had announced improvements to its AI-based personal assistant Bixby. When you’re in the camera app you can tap the Bixby option to access a variety of different new features, including tracking the place you’re in or calculates calories when pointing it at food. There’s another feature called Live Translation similar to Google Translate that allows you to put the camera on a menu or text and auto-translate it. Plus, Bixby Vision offers an enhanced beauty mode, so you can change the look of your selfies too.
The Galaxy S9 has retained the 3.5mm headphone jack unlike its competitors, which is next to the USB-C slot for charging and data transfer. The newly positioned fingerprint scanner is not an only security feature. The Galaxy S9 comes with Intelligent Scan, which combines both Iris scanning feature and the Face unlocking feature. The device IP68 waterproofing, it can handle the odd drop in a puddle without immediately flooding the internals.
On the color options, you’ll be able to buy the phone in Midnight Black, Coral Blue and Lilac Purple in most territories. Talking about the Galaxy S9 price, it will go on sale $719.99 for the base model and the Galaxy S9 Plus will be priced at $839.99. Talking about the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus price in Nepal, it might be around Rs. 90,000+ and 1lakh plus respectively. Both phones will go on sale from 16th of March, 2018 internationally. It might be available from April third week in Nepal.
