If you ever want to experience how it feels to use Android on your desktop. While Remix OS an Android-based operating system was an option which looked and function like a desktop client. Though the news is Jide Technology, the company behind this Android-based operating system is now discontinued the Remix OS.
According to the statement published by Jide Technology, the company is moving from the consumer market to enterprise one. With this, all the development for the Remix OS for the PC will be discontinued indefinitely.
“Over the past year, we received an increasing number of inquiries from enterprises in various industries and began helping them build great tools for their organizations by leveraging Jide software and hardware. We see huge potential in the role that Jide can play to revolutionize how these businesses operate. And given our existing resources, we decided to focus our company efforts solely on the enterprise space moving forward.”
Some time back Jide had collected funding on Kickstarter for a media box called the Remix IO. Though, the company is yet to ship the device to people who backed the campaign. The company will refund those who backed the product on Kickstarter and those who had purchased the Remix IO from the company’s website, starting August 15.
Remix Ultratablet in 2014 was the first Remix OS product created by Jide. And then in 2015, it brought Remix Mini PC. Besides these, there are builds of Remix OS for the Pixel C, Nexus 9, Nexus 10, and a host of other Android and Windows tablets.
It is yet unclear that will company continue support for its existing hardware (Remix Ultratablet and Remix PC Mini) or not.
