As the company grows bigger and bigger, the problems will also grow alongside. The same thing has happened recently between the Apple and Qualcomm. Qualcomm wants to ban certain iPhone and iPad models.
This fight between Apple and Qualcomm, seems to the biggest fight of Apple after a huge fight with Samsung in 2010.
Qualcomm has regsited a complaint at the US International Trade Commission against Apple accusing of infringing six of Qualcomm’s mobile patents.
Qualcomm has demanded ITC to ban on the import of certain devices which are not equipped with Qualcomm’s chips, and impose ban on Apple to sale those devices which has been already brought in the US.
Among list of the devices Qualcomm wants to be banned, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are on the top list and includes other certain iPads. Some models of iPhone 7 and 7Plus bundled with AT&T and T-Mobile uses Intel’s 4G chips and phones from other carriers like Verizon uses Qualcomm’s processor.
“Apple continues to use our technology and not pay for it,” Don Rosenberg, Qualcomm’s general counsel, said in an interview. “They’ve really left us no choice but to say, ‘You’ve got to stop this.'” – CNET
Actually, the fight between these two companies was going since January, when Apple filed suit against Qualcomm in the US and said the Qualcomm didn’t give fair licensing terms for its technology. That why the Apple wants to pay the lower amount for their technology. However, the Qualcomm claims that no modern smartphones would have been possible without their technology.
If the Qualcomm wins this battle, it will be harder for US people to get certain handsets. It will certainly affect the supply in the rest of the world too.
