Good news! OnePlus X users, OnePlus released a new OS on 22nd August, based on the Android Marshmallow 6.0.1.
Although, Android N is the latest android OS released by the Google but it’s limited to the Nexus only and other non-nexus smart have to stick with the Android 6.0.1.
Allen W. an administrator from OnePlus wrote on the forum notifying the release of new OS on Monday. Though unlike usual over – the – air update, this is just the community preview of Oxygen OS 3.1.0 based on Google’s Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, which means this is not the final version of the OS. The users might face some issues after updating the OS.
Besides announcing the update, the company also announced some changes on the Launcher of the OS. They brought new icon packs, Google search bar UI customization and new wallpaper picker. Not only the launcher, they also improved the Shelf UX, like long press boards either to remove or the rearrange the apps.
The settings is also changed little bit, like New App permissions (native Android), that the OS will ask for the users permissions to install the application form the external sources.
The company added a couple of application with this update as a default application , i.e. OnePlus Music Player and OnePlus Gallery.
As this is only the community build release, the users may face the issues like mobile network stability in some regions and some third party apps may face compatibility issues.
According to the company, users should factory reset their phone to install the new OS. You can download OS and instruction from the company’s web page .
