Nepal Telecom is all set to provide 4G service to its customers.
4G is one of the latest technology in the communication sector. Now with the 4G supporting devices, users can use high-speed internet. Usually, the data transfer rate in 4G is 100 Megabits per second. However, 4G is a bit older technology because some countries are already gearing up to develop 5G.
Due to the conflict in pricing and distribution methods, the technology was delayed. Now finally Nepali users can enjoy the high-speed voice and data service.
After setting price and frequency Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) opened the invitation for mobile operators to apply for 4G. According to reports, Nepal Telecom is asked to present the road map to implement the technology.
If everything goes right company will start 4G service within two months. According to NTA official Nepal Telecom will be given frequency on 1800 Mhz. Currently, the company is using 3G series under same frequency. But the company have to double what it’s paying for 3G.
According to the company after some upgrades in current infrastructure, it will start service. The company will launch the service in Kathmandu and some major cities in the initial phase. Will gradually expand the service to other cities as well.
NCell didn’t get the frequency.
Private sector Ncell has also applied for the 4G frequency, it didn’t get the frequency. Ncell is yet to clear due, which it own during the transfer of ownership. NTA official has clarified that until dues are not paid NCell won’t be able to acquire new services.
