We all know how badly the Nokia fell down. There were times when the Nokia was the synonyms for the mobile phone. However, the Nokia is trying to rise again next year with new smartphones — this time based on Android. Rumors were floating around for some time, but it’s now official, as the company itself confirmed it in a press release on last Thursday.
The FIH Mobile, a subsidiary company of Foxconn will manufacture the phone for Nokia. The Finnish company called HMD Global will sell it, which will have an exclusive global license for the Nokia brand for the next ten years.
The story of new Nokia is quite complicated. Still, the story goes like this – initially a Finnish company, failed very badly and bought by Microsoft in 2013 but ditched in Nokia brand the following year (long story in short).
Despite a strong push into mobiles and an alternative to iOS and Android in the Windows, the plan didn’t work as Microsoft expected.
Nokia, which still owns the Nokia brand, has licensed it to HMD Global, and will receive royalty payments for the sale of every Nokia-branded phone or tablet.
There is any official announcement yet, what the device will look like. Neither any rumors about the specifications of the upcoming smartphone. But, we can expect some mid-range phone, about 5-inch to 5.5-inch height. They might arrive in time for Mobile World Congress, which takes place in late February in Barcelona
I don’t know about you guys but this is exciting news for me. Will you buy the new Nokia phone? Share your thoughts in the comment box below.
