Among the five phone launched at MWC 2018 by the HMD Global, the Nokia 8 Sirocco is the only high-end smartphone. It is an upgraded variant of the old Nokia 8. The Nokia 8 Sirocco has glass all over the body, except a tiny stainless-steel chassis that runs along the sides. To reduce the bezels, the fingerprint scanner is moved to the rear, which has given an impressive look to the phone. Now, let’s talk about the Nokia 8 Sirocco price, specs, and availability.
Nokia 8 Sirocco has 5.5-inch, 1440X2560 pixel pOLED display, protected by Gorilla Glass 5 on the top. It also has Always-on display feature. The phone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo, of course. The phone is powered by Snapdragon 835 Octa-core CPU, clocked at 2.5GHz. The processor is coupled with 6GB of RAM and it has 128GB of internal storage, expandable up to 256GB.
HMD is using a dual-camera setup at the rear with a 12-megapixel primary camera, and Carl Zeiss optics. For the selfie, there is a 5-megapixel camera with wide-angle lens and also has “bothie” software support, to take a photo using both cameras simultaneously. Further, the Nokia 8 Sirocco has a new Pro Camera mode, which provides manual control over the camera setting in a radial menu, with options to change, focusing, white balance, ISO, shutter speed, etc. For some, it can be overwhelming but it might be useful if you like control over what you are shooting.
Nokia 8 Sirocco packs a non-removable 3260mAh battery, with fast charging feature (Quick Charge 4.0). Since the phone is 95% glass, it has the wireless charging feature too. Further, like most of the flagships, the HMD decides to kill the headphone jack on Nokia 8 Sirocco.
Connectivity includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, USB 3.1 Type -C 1.0 and sensors include fingerprint (rear mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer.
