After the success on the social media, the Facebook seems to be have taken an interest in smartphones. Actually, not regular smartphones but the modular smartphone. Before, the tech Giant “Google” failed on their modular smartphone project called “Project Ara”. Now, the Facebook is interested in the same kind of project. The Business Insider reports that a number of former Project Ara team member now work for Building 8 at Facebook.

Regina Dugan, ex-director of DARPA and former director of the project division and advanced technologies of the tech giant Google, is handling the responsibility.
A modular smartphone is a smartphone made using different components that can be independently upgraded or replaced in a modular design.
The company filed for a patent that details a “modular electromagnetic device”. However, it’s unclear what exact device the modular system will be used for.
This project was developed primarily by former members of the startup Nascent Objects that focus on modular electronics, which was acquired by Facebook last September.
Facebook also tried to make a phone with HTC in 2013, which became a complete flop. So, they are hiring the former talents from the companies like Google, Apple, Motorola, who have experience on modular projects.
Whatever the Facebook is up to, the company thinks it’s better and beneficial than the phone like iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, etc.
