The LG has unveiled its latest flagship LG V30 in the IFA 2017 Berlin, but the availability date is not mentioned yet. On the top, it’s not sure that when the LG V30 will be available globally with the device currently will be available in South Korea only. Though, we can expect it to be globally available by mid-September, 2017. The company also hasn’t said anything about the pricing.
The phone has 6-inches tall display, with 1440 X 2880 pixels resolution, with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. The display glass is an OLED panel, which offers vivid colors, deep black and more clear picture than other LCD counterparts. It has similar 18:9 aspect ratio of LG G6 and recently launched mid-range LG Q6 and 1440 X 2880 pixels resolution, that appears quite beautiful.
If we sneak into the phone, we will have the latest flagship Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset, Octa-core CPU and Adreno 540 GPU. And it runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. In the optics department, the phone has a Dual 16-megapixel camera at the rear and a 5-megapixel camera for the selfie. Actually, the main camera is 16 megapixel, with OIS and a wide f/1.6 aperture that should help low-light photography. Next, to that sits a wide-angle camera that captures pictures with a 120-degree field of view. This secondary camera lacks optical image stabilization, but it still has a wide f/1.9 lens.
Talking about the storage, the phone comes with 64GB and 128 GB variant with 4GB of RAM. The storage is expandable up to 256 GB via microSD card. To back up the internals, the phone comes with a non-removable Li-ion 3300mAh battery, with fast battery charging technology – Quick Charge 3.0. The battery size seems a little bit small, given the screen resolution and the internals. So, we must expect average battery life. It charges via USB-C and supports fast as well as wireless charging.
The LG V30 comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, Infrared, USB 3.1, Type-C 1.0, in the connectivity department. Sensors like a fingerprint (front mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, color spectrum, are also included. The device will be IP68 rated for water and dust resistance.
Talking about the design, the company should have focused on the bezel-less smartphone because other companies are cutting the edge from their flagships. We are expecting, the next iPhone will come with the bezel-less or very thin bezel. And the company has opted for the blend of glass and aluminum instead of all metal body of last year’s LG V20.
The LG V30 is available in four colors options, Aurora Black, Cloud Silver, Moroccan Blue, Lavender Violet. However, LG added new color variant Raspberry Rose in 2018, now you have five colors option to choose from [2018 Jan update].
Additionally, the Samsung has released new Note 8 recently and Apple plans September 12 to launch their next flagship, probably iPhone 8. So, it might be tough for the LG to compete with them.
