Jailbreak iOS 10.1.1, a complete guide.

We have recently informed about the release of the jailbreak for the iOS 10.1 and iOS 10.1.1. The jailbreak has been made available just after Apple rolled out iOS 10.2. The recent jailbreak is compatible with the iPhone 6s, iPhone 7 and iPad Pro. However, this jailbreak is a beta release, meaning it might have all sort of bugs and other issues. Moreover, Cydia Substrate isn’t supported as yet. That means it’s only semi-untethered jailbreak.

If you are running on iOS 10.1 or 10.1.1, then only you can jailbreak. But if your phone is running latest update 10.2 then you are out of the luck cause the jailbreak isn’t available yet. you will have to wait until the develop will release the jailbreak for iOS 10.2.

Now for the users who are using iOS 10.x here are what you need to jailbreak the phone:

  • Supported device and firmware: iPhone7/7 Plus running iOS 10.1 or 10.1.1, iPhone 6s/6s Plus running iOS 10.1 or 10.1.1 and iPad Pro running iOS 10.1 and 10.1.1.
  • Jailbreak IPA file which you can download here
  • Cydia Impactor, which can be downloaded from cydiaimpactor.com
  • A free or developer Apple ID. You can register for a free Apple ID from appleid.apple.com.
  • The latest version of iTunes.
  • A computer running either Windows or MacOS.

Now follow the steps:

1: Connect supported iPhone or iPad to your computer using a Lightning/USB cable.

2: Make a complete backup of your data using iTunes which you can return to in case anything goes wrong during or after jailbreak.

3: Disable Passcode/Touch ID on your device from Settings > Touch ID & Passcode.

4: Disable Find My iPhone on your device from Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone.

5: Launch Cydia Impactor.

6: Drag and drop the Jailbreak IPA file on Cydia Impactor.

7: Enter your Apple ID when Cydia Impactor prompts for it.

8: Now wait for Cydia Impactor to install the jailbreak app onto your device.

9: Once installed, disconnect your device from computer and head to Settings > General > Profile(s) & Device Management or General > Device Management and hit Trust and then Trust again on the certificate you used to install this jailbreak app.

10: Now launch the “mach_portal” jailbreak app from the Home screen and wait for 10 to 15 seconds for it to do its thing. It will basically show a white screen, and then close itself, after which Cydia will show up on the Home screen

If Cydia doesn’t show up on the Home screen, reboot or hard reboot your device and it should be there.

That’s it! Your device is now jailbroken with Cydia installed.

However this is a semi-untethered jailbreak, you need to jailbreak after every reboot. You have to follow the above 10 steps again to jailbreak.

If you have used the free Apple id as we mentioned above, your jailbreak will expire after seven days, after which you will have to re-jailbreak it again from the step 5 onwards. No data, settings or tweaks will be lost during the re-jailbreak process. For those who are using develop IDs, can run it without re-jailbreaking for up to a year.
