The dual camera is the killer feature of iPhone 7 Plus, but reports claimed that users are facing a problem in the cameras.
A number of the user reported seeing only a ‘black screen of death’ when they attempt to launch the camera. Others are claiming that the phone offers a black screen with a warning ‘Emergency iPhone needs to cool down’.
However, it’s still unclear what is causing such problem. Though the front-facing camera is all right, no complaint till now.
However, it looks like the problem is with hardware because Apple is replacing the device or just the camera modules, indicating in the reports that this is a hardware problem. The problem could be with the flex connecting module of the iPhone 7 plus to the rest of the device.
A Reddit user teryakiwok posted ‘my new iPhone 7 Plus camera went AWOL today and a quick Twitter/Google search confirmed I’m not the only one,’
Another Reddit user named “tripler6” said an Apple store Genius told him “it was the shutter and replaced the entire phone.”
“I took it in and they changed the camera on mine, not a complete phone replacement,” wrote Reddit user “Itzmike.”
If your iPhone camera is only showing a black screen when launched, Apple suggests you try these steps to remedy the issue:
- Make sure there’s nothing blocking the camera lens such as a case.
- Force close the Camera app and reopen it.
- Manually restart your handset then reopen the camera app once rebooted.
- Try toggling between the front and rear cameras.
- If the issue hasn’t been solved, it’s suggested you take your phone to your nearest Apple Retail Store.
The iPhone 7 Plus is the first iPhone with dual rear cameras; one regular wide-angle lens and a second telephoto lens. With the latter, users can get 2x optical zoom without losing any picture details.
