Do you think, the phone screen size you are reading this (if you are reading on a smartphone) is an ideal size? Some of you might be reading on as smaller phone and most of you are reading a bigger screen phone as this is a standard for the smartphone. We can tell that most of you must have a phone at least of 5-inchn tall smartphones because it has become an ideal size for right now. Will it ever change in the future, will 6 or 7- inches tall smartphone will come as standard size? And dont you think that the size of smartphones is getting bigger and bigger?

The preference for the size of the display depends on what is it being used for. For instant let’s take the example of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6. Many of the iPhone 5s users stick to their device instead of upgrading to the iPhone 6 which is bigger. This makes the company launch upgraded iPhone5SE with the same size as iPhone5s with better specification. And if you remember, there were the mini version of Galaxy S-series.
Bigger display size is mostly helpful for the watching video or playing games or reading. But, besides that, the most common use of any phone is to make the calls. The bigger phone will feel like holding a brick on your face while making a call. And the size doesn’t make it a pocket-friendly; with chances, you might break the display while keeping in the pocket. While a smaller device might be easier to be carried in any pocket, but if you want to consume some multimedia then it might not be a great size and won’t have the similar feels a watching on a big screen.
With the large phone, it comes with the serious issue of usability. Sometimes they become annoying and irritating because you can’t fit them into the pocket of your jeans. Or, if you finally are able to fit, it gets bend. Take the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus bends, as an example.
Even worse for girls, the ladies jeans have smaller pockets than boys, it will be impossible to insert the phone inside their pocket.
But, bigger is not always beautiful, people.
The second problem, not all of us have 6-foot height and have big hands. I mean, you can’t even hold the smartphone properly, how you are going to use it single handed. And if you have to use both hands, its better you buy a tablet, isn’t it? Moreover, my other hand has more important thing to do, like hold a book/coffee/or my daughter’s hand.
However, with the innovation of the display technology the company like Samsung and LG is making it possible to have a bigger screen in the comparably smaller device. And let’s forget about the Xiaomi which was the first company to show that the bezel-less display is the future with its MI Mix. These display features could be future standards for the devices to launch here after. And another major improvement is in the resolution of the display with most of the premium devices for at least QHD (Quad-HD) display.
While talking about the display, let’s talk about the virtual reality also. With a lot of investment being poured into this technology, it’s on the improvement path. Imagine just with a small device you can feel like you are at the different place just sitting on your comfortable couch or enjoy the live event as if you are present at the stadium itself. And with VR you can enjoy the bigger virtual display just in the same smaller device.
The smartphones have very deep influence in our daily life, so it becomes important that the apps and OS running on those devices keep one handed user in mind.
At last, we seriously need smaller smartphones.
