Recently, the Huawei launched another budget smartphone in Nepal, the Huawei Y7 Pro 2019. The Huawei seems to be taking the Nepali market pretty seriously. Further, Huawei has prioritized Nepali market a lot, we clearly see the recent device launch trend in the country. Among them, the Huawei Y7 Pro 2019, a budget smartphone, is the one we are looking at this review.
Design and Looks: Huu!!! It’s sleek…
Starting with the design, the Huawei Y7 Pro is very pleasing to the eyes. With a dewdrop notch, it has thin bezels on the sides, with Huawei logo on the bottom. It is 6.26 –inch HD IPS display, with 19:9 aspect ratio. Similarly, dual camera and flash are placed on the back, with beautiful looking colors. As usual, at the bottom, there is USB, microphone, and speaker and on the top 3.5mm audio jack and noise cancellation hole. On the side, volume rocker and power button on the right and SIM card and memory slot on the left. So, let us discuss my experience in terms of design.
Whether you like it or not, the notch, sometimes, it is irritating. Even though you can hide the notch, it is not much comfortable. Nevertheless, it is a minor thing. Further talking about the display, I am very satisfied, given the fact it is a budget smartphone. At 720P display, the video and photos look pretty clean and crisp, you won’t regret. Holding the phone feels good, it can be used single-handedly, without any difficulty. With gradient finish, the back of the device looks very pleasing. Actually, as design wise, the Huawei Y7 Pro does not have any place to complain.
Multimedia and Performance
Just to be clear, this device is not made for the heavy task. Therefore, performance wise the device works well. The focus of this device is multimedia, even it packs 4,000mAh battery, which will last for a whole day plus.
Inside, there is Snapdragon 450 chipset, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. You can occasionally game on the device, it can also handle the games like PUBG, Asphalt, etc. However, you won’t be able to play for hours.
Talking about the multi-media experience, it performed pretty well, I am very satisfied. If you turn off the notch, the movies and video on the screen look clear. Even though the display is the only 720P, you cannot tell the difference, at all. Just to test the device, I played multiple HD videos; it lasted for 7 hours on average, which is pretty good.
Camera and Photography
The Huawei Y7 Pro 2019 comes with the dual camera setup, as the primary camera, on the back. The sensors are 13MP, f/1.8 sensor and 2MP depth sensor; this combo can take a pretty neat image, providing a good photography experience. With a 13Mp sensor, the camera can take come eye-catching photos, with great details, depth, vibrant photos.

Talking about my experience, the photos I took at day time, came out pretty clean, detailed. However, as the lights get dimmer, the photos lose their crispiness and more noise is detected. However, the onboard AI technology helps the device to process the image. The AI also helps to optimize the image as per the scene, sometime, can be quite useful.
Similarly, the selfie camera lies on the notch, with a 16MP f/2.2 sensor. Similar to the primary camera, it takes clean photos in the daytime. However, at night or low-light situation, the photos are quite noisy. To make that up, there is a LED light on the front. However, I am not a fan of flashlights on the selfie camera, though, it can be useful sometimes.
Day-to-Day Usage
Although the device is made up of plastic, it feels premium on hands. The glossy finish makes the device more attractive, also a head turner feature.
Well, with large 4000mAh battery, it lasts for a whole day, in a single charge. So, I don’t have to carry the charger. Actually, the large display and bigger battery are the two best feature, which I love about the Huawei Y7 Pro 2019.
For me, the combination of SD450, 3GB RAM and Adreno 506, makes quite a performer. Since I have been using this device for a while, I had no troubles while operating, the multitasking was smooth, like butter, no glitches, no hang, no problem at all.
Well, being a budget smartphone, it has some bummer also. The company chose to cut-down the fingerprint sensor, which can be a setback for a lot of us. I really miss the fingerprint scanner, though.
Huawei Y7 Pro 2019 Review: Final Verdict
Indeed, it could have been better, if the company has not cut-off the fingerprint scanner. With a pretty and sleek design, dual camera, dew-drop notch, and 720p display make the device desirable at the 18K price range. At this price tag, the camera is good, which I did not expect at all. It can take a detailed image, with the primary camera and selfie camera.
However, instead of SD450, the company should have included the SD600 series. Moreover, I miss the fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C port.
On the other hand, it packs a beautiful display, and bigger battery and screen size, which makes it more desirable. I would buy this phone just to make it my secondary one.
