The Mobile World Congress (MWC) is among on the most waited event among the tech geeks. Ongoing MWC 2018 is not the exception, with the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus being the highlight of the event. Along with Samsung, other major manufacturers like Nokia, Sony, Asus, and other showcased their latest products. Though the major manufacturer showcased the latest mobile devices, that’s not only products launched. In the event, some manufacturer also launched latest laptops. For instance, Lenovo launched Yoga 730 and Yoga 530, Huawei launched Matebook X Pro, the predecessor to last year’s Matebook Pro.
Lenovo Yoga 730 and Yoga 530
The 13-inch and 15-inch, Yoga 730 and Yoga 530 respectively (which will also be known as Flex 14 in the US) are the three 2-in-1 models laptop launched at MWC 2018 by the Lenovo. These new Yoga laptops feature the latest 8th-generation Intel Core i7 processors, with Yoga 730 having Nvidia GeForce 1050 discrete graphics. The Yoga 730 has an ultra-HD IPS touchscreen display whereas Yoga 530 has a full-HD IPS touchscreen display, with thin borders. There is an optional Lenovo Active Pen 2 with 4,096 levels of sensitivity to write, draw, or annotate with Windows Ink.
There is an integrated fingerprint reader on laptops for the added security. There is two voice-enabled assistant on Yoga 730 with a new built-in Alexa Support along with Microsoft’s Cortana. Newly introduced far-field microphones made it possible to add new voice-assistant Alexa on the Yoga 730.
In terms of weight, the 15-inch Yoga 730 is just 1.89 kg, 1.12 kg for the 13-inch model. Additionally, the 14-inch Yoga 530 weighs 1.6 kg. The new Yoga 730 is said to have a battery life of up to 11.5 hours on the 13-inch model and up to 11 hours on the 15-inch variant. Also, with Rapid Charge, Lenovo says that in just 15 minutes users will get up to 2 hours of usage of the Yoga 530 and 13-inch Yoga 730.
The 13-inch Yoga 730 with Lenovo Active Pen 2 included will be priced at EUR 999, will be available in April. The 15-inch model with Lenovo Active Pen 2 included will be priced at EUR 1,099, will be available in April. The 14-inch Yoga 530 will start at EUR 549, will be available in June.
Huawei Matebook X Pro
At MWC 2017, Huawei launched new MateBook X Pro along with Huawei MediaPad M5. The new Matebook X Pro sports a 13.9-inches 3000×2000 pixels LTPS display. MateBook X Pro is the first notebook to feature Huawei’s FullView Display with 91 percent screen-to-body ratio. Matebook X Pro features Intel Core i7-8550U or Core i5-8250U 8th-gen Kaby Lake-R Core processors with 8GB or 16GB of RAM. For graphics, it also features Nvidia GeForce MX150, 2GB GDDR5. In terms of storage, the laptop comes in 256GB or 512GB SSD variants.
It has two USB Type-C ports, one USB Type-A port, a power button with a built-in fingerprint scanner, and comes in either Space Grey or Mystic Silver. In terms of dimensions, it measures 304x217x14.6mm and weighs around 1.33kg. In terms of battery, Huawei claims that users can “work regularly” for 14 hours on the MateBook X Pro.
Huawei has price starting at EUR 1,499 for an i5 with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, and maxing up to EUR 1,899 for an i7 with a 512GB SSD, will be available in Spring 2018.
