Nearly 10 days ago, Google launched its new smartphones Pixel and Pixel XL killing the predecessor- Google Nexus. Google launched Google Assistant along side with Pixel phones. Google has very high hope with its new Assistant in the future.
But, what actually is Google Assistant and how is it different than Google Now. Actually, the Google Assistant is same as Google Now with more features or Google Assistant can do more things than Google Now.
Google Now is voice – activated personal assistant – similar to Apple’s Siri and Microsoft’s Cortana. But, Google now is not a platform specific that means you will get Google Now in Android and ISO too. But the hardware controlling are limited in IOS.
You can activate Google Now just by simple command “OK Google”, even in the lock screen. It enables you to web search and perform other tasks.
Google Assistant is the advanced form of Google Now and you will get with their new app “Allo”. It performs the exactly same task as Google Now, with a new bot-centric AI experience, designed to give you conversational interactions that cover both these areas.
As per Google:
The assistant is conversational – an ongoing two-way dialogue between you and Google that understands your world and helps you get things done. It makes it easy to buy movie tickets while on the go, to find that perfect restaurant for your family to grab a quick bite before the movie starts, and then help you navigate to the theater.”
The Google Assistant is smarter than Google Now. It remembers the past and gives the suggestion based on past experience. Google Assistant follow-up questions and recalls past conversations and give you a rundown of your schedule for the day. The AI-powered helper, which builds on Google Now’s search and contextual information surfacing capabilities, can carry on conversations with you to do things like control your Google Cast-enabled gadgets and devices
It feels a bit creepy, Google knows a lot about you. Don’t worry, what you talk with Assistant remains between you and the Assistant. That’s what Google says.
Eventually, the Google Now and Google Assistant will be merged together. But, it isn’t coming with Android 7.1, unless you own a Google Pixel or Pixel XL.
