Mobile World Congress 2017 could be the platform for the next Galaxy phone. According to the Korea Herald, Samsung has already placed orders for components of the Galaxy S8. Due to the recent mishap of Galaxy Note 7, the launch of the Galaxy S8 will be big deal. Samsung will look to redeem itself in the smartphone market.
The rumors and speculation about the features on Samsung Galaxy S8 are floating around over the last year or so, on the internet. Some of the changes will be minor, but there are seven notable rumored features that make the Galaxy S8 sound worth waiting for:
Display Without A Physical Home Button
The physical Home button might be removed in favor of a digital on-screen Home button. This gives the Galaxy S8 full edge-to-edge display, with fingerprint sensor directly integrated into the display.
There are rumors 2017 iPhone could opt for fullscreen display with fingerprint sensor integrated into the display. Apple has recently filed a patent for the fingerprint right into the display. This will be the most interesting feature in the phone.
4K Resolution Screen
Samsung Galaxy S8 could be the first phone with 4K display (3840 by 2160 pixels). This allows Samsung to have one of the sharpest screens of any mobile device, it also makes the S8 into a suitable platform for the next generation of mobile VR. With each eye receiving a 2K ‘square’ display and a powerhouse graphics chip to drive the output, the Galaxy S8 have chances to be the machine that genuinely delivers on a portable VR experience.
Dual-Lens Cameras
Samsung suppliers are reportedly filling orders for dual-lens cameras that take DSLR-like photos in terms of quality. For the Galaxy S7, Samsung sells some units with a Samsung ISOCELL S5K2L1 sensor and some units with a Sony IMX260 sensor. Perhaps Samsung will use its own components and a third party again for the Galaxy S8 with more megapixels and brighter lenses. It is unknown whether Samsung will use all-in-one dual cameras or separated dual cameras.
Exynos 8895 And Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 Chipsets
Samsung Galaxy S8 will include Exynos 8895 chipset. Besides Exynos 8895, some handsets will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 chipset. The Exynos 8895 reportedly has a 3GHz maximum speed and a 70% improvement in image processing efficiency compared to its predecessor. Both the chipset will be produced using 10-nano fabrication technologies that improve overall chip functions on a smartphone while reducing energy consumption.
Headphone Jack Removed In Favor Of USB-C Audio
The expectation is high that the Samsung will also ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack from Galaxy S8. A USB-C port is expected to be used for wired headphones and charging.
ARM Mali-G71 Graphics Chip
The Galaxy S8 will ship with the ARM Mali-G71 graphics chips, which are very powerful. The Mali-G71 GPU is scalable from one to thirty-two cores and delivers up to 20% better energy efficiency, 40% better performance density and 20% external memory bandwidth saving compared to Mali-T880 under similar conditions. The Mali-T880 is the GPU that is used in the Galaxy S7.
Two Display Sizes, With Edge Screens
There are rumors that Samsung will launch two version of S8, unlike last year’s devices both having edge display. Samsung will come up with one 5.1-inch and other 5.5-inch display. Samsung will be using its own super AMOLED display with Godzilla glass 4 same as Note 7. With both the devices being edge variant, these devices might be called “Galaxy S8” and “Galaxy S8 Plus”
