What is the first thing you look for while making a purchase decision for a new smartphone? Along with RAM, Processor and other specification, you will definitely keep note of camera quality. Well, in this age of social media, you don’t want to ruin your upload game with blurry and dull images. And this is the reason we are seeing improvement in camera quality even in mid-range to low range smartphone and tons of innovation on the field of camera technology. So, how about the four-camera smartphone?
Since the dual cameras have become the de facto standard for the flagships smartphones, the company has started adding more cameras. For now, the numbers have come up to 4 (four), which seems to be quite useful. Because of social media, like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc., people are snapping photos more than ever.
Keeping the same in mind Huawei launched innovative nova series last year with Nova 2i, which was the first four-camera smartphone to be launched in the country. The device was the first to have dual camera setup on both front and rear. On the last year’s Nova 2i, the company paired dual lens on the rear for regular photography, where the 16MP main camera has an RGB sensor with f/2.0 aperture and the secondary is 2MP RGB lens with 1.75um large Pixel Size for better low light shooting quality. With the rear dual camera setup, you can capture portraits with professional bokeh effect. And the Nova 2i’s camera technology can readjust the focus after you shoot, while also allowing you to choose different bokeh effects. Whereas on the front, the dual camera setup features a 13MP main camera and 2MP secondary camera for perfect selfies. There are modes like Beauty 4.0, Photo effects, Gesture control and similar to rear camera Portrait mode with bokeh effect.
With this unique combination of the four cameras on Nova series has won the hearts of a lot of customers.
And the Nova 3e continuation to the Nova series was launched a couple of months ago, which had a beautiful glass back with metal frame. The Nova 3e was the lighter version of the flagship from the coma Huawei P20 pro, which is also known as P20 lite in some markets. The 5.84-inch Nova 3e runs on the familiar Huawei’s in-house Kirin 659 chipset with an octa-core A53 processor, Mali-T830 MP3 GPU, and 4GB of RAM. There is a dual-cam setup on the back with a 16MP sensor behind the f/2.2 lens and a secondary 2MP helper for background blur. At the front sits a 24MP selfie shooter (Sony IMX576) behind the f/2.0 lens. To back up the internals there is a non-removable 3000mAh battery. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
With this unique combination of the four cameras on the Nova series, the device has won the heart of a lot of customers. Which can be proved from the recent market survey, which shows the company has sold more 50 thousand unit of the Nova series. The four-camera featured on the Nova series is not only the key factor for the Nova series, to be chosen among the customer. The beautiful and up to date design the company has implemented in the Nova series has attracted the customers.
Now, with the company preparing to launch the successor to Nova 2i and Nova 3e, we will expect the same similar four camera setup with specification bump. As per the recent speculation, the successor will feature a 24MP + 16MP dual camera as primary, and for selfies, there will be 24MP + 2MP dual lenses which are integrated with the AI like on the Huawei P20 Pro.
With an AI-powered selfie camera, it can recognize over 200 scenarios across eight categories including Blue sky, Plant, and Beach. While the rear cameras are activated, the AI can automatically identify more than 500 typical scenarios across 22 categories. Moreover, the AI reads the contour, texture, color gradient, illumination of its camera subjects, and takes them into consideration together with depth information before executing the beautification process. The powerful algorithms account for the subject’s expression, outfit, pose, ambient lighting to improve the portrait taking experience. The AI will also be integrated with UI in such a way that it will enhance shopping experience and gaming.
And talking about gaming, the upcoming devices will also feature the company’s recent innovative GPU Tubro technology which enhances the GPU performance with the software. The enhanced GPU performance from the GPU Turbo technology, the gaming, and software experience of the device will improve significantly.
