With companies like Samsung and Apple going for a complete display on the front of its flagship devices, the traditional position of the fingerprint scanner has been displaced. There are two options for the manufacturer either embed scanner on the display or place it on the rear. The embedded sensor is yet to be developed to be used on large scale, so the only option is to place on the rear of the device.
The recently launched Samsung Galaxy S8 was supposed to have the Fingerprint scanner embedded on display. But due to lack of innovation in this technology, the company had to place the fingerprint scanner on a rather odd place. Had the company figured out the embedded sensor technology the device would have looked DOPE.
The Chinese tech manufacturer Vivo has figured out the screen embedded sensor technology.

In between this, there is news coming from China that the Chinese manufacturer Vivo has figured out the screen embedded sensor technology. Vivo is launching a device with the fingerprint sensor embedded n the display at Mobile World Congress 2017 Shanghai. Their company has teased a video unlocking device with screen embedded sensor.

The Samsung is pouring tons of money on Synaptics for the development of the technology but results are frustrating. Though the company is working aggressively to develop the sensor for the Note 8, is expected to be able to mass produce the sensor next year only. There are rumors, Note 8 with scanner embedded on the display but we can’t say until the device is launched. So, we are expecting the Note 8 will have the scanner at the same place as Galaxy S8.
On the other hand, Apple is supposed to have figure out the technology for its 10th-anniversary device, iPhone 8. There is leaked design images with both onscreen sensor and sensor mounted on the rear of the device. With the uncertainty of this, the launch of next-generation iPhone is expected to delay than last year.
Hopefully, we can see Fingerprint scanner embedded on display soon.
