One night my friend called me and said, he had no internet. I asked him to restart the modem, the router, and his laptop, as usual, all to no avail. Then I suggested him to check the lights on his router, modem, which were working just fine. After hours of conversation and tons of possible solution, I thought I won’t be able to help him tonight.
Just before hanging up the phone, I asked him “How did you know the internet is down?” He told me that he wrote a URL in a piece of the paper earlier this afternoon then tried going to the site based on what he had written. The problem was, unfortunately, he misspelled the address and it was 404-ing, giving him the impression that the internet was down.
