In this time of the pandemic, almost everyone is settled inside our house. And working for home or learning from home has been a new normal. Though mobile has been as powerful as laptops and accessible to almost everyone, Laptops are essential for work from home and mainly for online students. In this context, if you are planning to get yourself a laptop to get your work done or to student online. There are some components in laptops that are great to have to fulfill your needs. There are some components that you may miss while buying a laptop. So, here is the thing that you should focus on while getting one to get your job done.

Screen Quality and Size

If you are working from home or attending online classes, your screen time will not be limited to just working or learning. Most of us tend to extend our screen to contain consumption or browsing social media. And staring at a display becomes annoying and blurry after using it for long hours. So, while choosing a laptop it is good to make sure that it displays is an IPS display. IPS displays are the best type of displays for colors that come out of screens. IPS displays are better as they have great viewing angles as well. So while buying a laptop going for an IPS display will help you to gain a great laptop experience.

Display size also needs to be considered while choosing a laptop, while a 13-inch laptop more compact and portable but this small display size can stress your eyes. And smaller size display also means less space for multitasking. If you need to work with multiple tabs smaller size display will affect your efficiency of work. And even while attending online classes, you while writing a note you might have to switch between tabs. Instead of opening both tabs simultaneously on the same display if you had a larger display. So we prefer a 15-inch display while buying a laptop.

If you are looking for a compact and more portable laptop, you can consider investing on an external monitor. Or can use that unused monitor which has been sitting at some corner of your house.

Processor

The processor is a key component of the laptop. There are currently two main competitors on the market, i.e. Intel and AMD. While considering choosing the right processor, there is something that needs to be kept on the mind. The generation and series of the processor, the higher generation means the latest processor and the highest series means more powerful processors. And with the latest improvement in technology, even lower series laptops of the latest generation processor outperform older generation higher series processors. And what will be the main use of you of the laptop? If you are using the laptop mainly of the for working on Office Application of work, attending online classes, and content consumption, then you can go lower-end processors like Intel i3 10th Generation or mid-range slightly older generation processor like Intel i5 9th Generation. And if you are interested in learning graphics design and editing videos while working and content consumption, then you should choose the mid-end latest generation processor. Or even a higher-end processor considering the budget you have.

RAM

Another key component that helps in the smooth running of heavy apps. RAM is the memory of the laptop which helps with multitasking with various apps. Similar to the CPU, you need to consider what is the main objective of buying a laptop. If you are using a laptop of basic work a 4GB RAM should be enough. But you work with multiple Apps open and with multiple tabs open on the browser, then you should go with higher 8GB RAM. We suggest you go for 8GB of RAM, as even opening multiple tabs take a lot of impact on the RAM. And RAM is a component that can be upgraded in the future if needed.

Storage

To install the Operating System and all the application Laptops need a storage component. And there are mainly two types of storage options traditional Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and the latest Solid State Drive (SSD). The traditional is cheaper compared to the SSD. But the SSD is way faster than hard Drive.

So while buying a Laptop consider using an SSD rather than the traditional Hard Drive. SSD is basically a time saver during pc boot up, loading application, and more. For faster performance SSD acts as a key component. But if your budget constraints, you can go with lower storage SSD for OS and all the applications and higher storage Hard Drive to store all your other data.

Ports and Accessories

Ports are placed to help connect our Laptop with external devices. While buying a laptop you need to know what port will you need. Most of the modern higher-end laptops ditched all other ports for Thunderbolt port or Type-C port. A thunderbolt port is 8 times faster than a normal USB port and makes it seamless if you are using an external device. But you need to consider that all the devices come with compatible Type-C port. You might have to go for external dongles for your external components. Or you can buy a laptop with all the required port the device itself.

You need to consider what are the ports you need for instance most of the laptops are inbuilt with Wi-Fi but Wi-Fi is not as consistent as wired connections. So if you need a consistent internet connection then you must look for a laptop with a LAN port. Similarly, you must consider other ports as well, like USB 3, an audio port.

These are our suggestions to consider while buying a laptop. Hope this will help you to choose the right laptop. However, for purchasing a tower computer there are certain other components you should consider, which we will cover in the next article.
