Means of connectivity has been the necessity since forever. For the sake of connectivity, people have done many research and developments . Infrared Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are the results of these developments. Among them, Bluetooth technology has been there since long. Even before the advancement of Wi-Fi technology Bluetooth has been there for the transfer of data. With the advancement of the technology, even the Bluetooth technology has excelled. The proof is the latest announcement of the Bluetooth 5. The company has already announced they are in the development phase in June 2016.
As announced by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (Bluetooth SIG), Bluetooth 5 is released for the developer and manufacturers with much more specification than the current generation of the Bluetooth 4.2. The latest Bluetooth is not merely focused for smart watches or speaker, rather the technology is focused towards the Internet of Things (IoT). It is focused on range, bandwidth and speed, which makes the technology suitable for the controlling and managing smart home devices and systems.
Bluetooth 5 offers double the bandwidth, four times the range and eight times the broadcast message capacity of the 4.2 version. Along with these improvements, it consumes less power, making it ideal for controlling smart homes and the product connected .
“Bluetooth is revolutionizing how people experience the IoT. It continues to drive this revolution by delivering reliable IoT connections and mobilizing the adoption of beacons, which in turn will decrease connection barriers and enable a seamless IoT experience,” says the SIG’s executive director Mark Powell.
The increased range covers the entire house, fasters speeds ensures less waiting around, and when combined with 8 times increase in message capacity, will help deliver more data. With the latest technology company promises less interference by other closely matched bandwidths and chances for the developers to manage individual aspects of the connection. This will help to built specially tailored apps and hardware to manage the power effectively on smartphones.
According to the SIG, we should expect devices with technology by early 2017 but it might take another six months to the manufacturer to fully blend with the latest technology.
