Apple launched new MacBook Pro version after a long gap. The new MacBook has some new features and rest of them is kind of old one. As always the new Macs are available in two different sizes, i.e. 13-inch and 15-inch. The new OLED Touch Bar just above the keyboard became the main attraction at the launch. Both 13-inch and 15-inch Macs have OLED Touch Bar.
However, 13-inch standard model (or base model) comes without touch bar. There is traditional function key in place of touch bar. Apart from the obviously missing Touch Bar, the standard model does not get Touch ID, which means any fast authentication, no quick user switching, and no ability to pay using Apple Pay online. This Mac Book totally kills the old MacBook Air because of the price. The MacBook air cost around $1200 maximum and the new base model MacBook pro cost around $1300. It’s obvious that customer will go for the new MacBook Pro. Sadly, the MacBook Air was discontinued.
Talking about MacBook Pro’s connecting ports, Apple kills off all the ports you need.
No SD card slot, no full-size USB, no Magsafe, no thunderbolt 2 ports, no HDMI port.
WHY Apple?
Even worse for new MacBook Pro base model, no touch bar, and touch ID.
With all ports removed or replaced, can we call this baseline MacBook Pro just new MacBook? says Marques Brownlee.
Apple thinks that USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 are the ports of the future because they are smaller in size and all the way better than existing USB ports.
Now, you have to rely on USB-C connectors. Either buy new adapters or buy new USB type C cables or USB hub. By dropping the USB ports, Apple is simply pushing users to carry more dongles, adapters, USB hub to connect their devices with the laptop.
