The iPhone freezing or unresponsiveness problem is not a new issue. However, this time, the iPhone X seems to be affected by the cold virus. Jokes apart, some owners of expensive iPhone X have reported that the keyboard and touchscreen become unresponsive to cold temperature. Many people in a Reddit thread said they noticed the problem was most pronounced when they used their phones immediately after moving outside from a warm interior. The iPhone X screen freezing issue might be a big problem for the company if it’s not solved soon.
However, this is not a new issue, every iPhone since 2007 had this issue, but the iPhone X is an extreme one. Also known as “touch disease”, where the fix involved a hardware problem, which could be solved by bringing the device into an Apple store and paying $200 in some cases.
Apple recommends an ambient temperature range (between 0 and 35 degree Celsius) when using iOS devices. Though, this could be the deal breaker for people living in the cold environment or locations with 4 seasons. And also, we have a good news from the company, they said, the iPhone X screen freezing issue will be soon fixed via software update.
“We are aware of instances where the iPhone X screen will become temporarily unresponsive to touch after a rapid change to a cold environment,” a spokesperson for the company said. “After several seconds, the screen will become fully responsive again. This will be addressed in an upcoming software update.”
